About FFSCThe Fungus Federation of Santa Cruz (FFSC) is an informal affiliation of friendly, fun-loving, sometimes frenzied fungophiles dedicated to the knowledge, pursuit and appreciation of wild mushrooms. We organize many activities during the mushroom season from September through May. Our annual Fungus Fair, held in January, is a popular activity for the whole community. The Board of Directors is known as the Ministers of the FFSC, with each minister responsible for specific duties. MeetingsOur monthly general meetings feature a wide variety of speakers discussing various aspects of mycology. Local forays present an opportunity to learn more about our local fungi and to meet a varied and interesting group of people. ID ClassesBeginning/Intermediate and Advanced Classes help round out our field and lab knowledge. We arrange long distance forays out of the local area to expand our collecting opportunities, and also to have a great time! We try always to "Keep the Fun in Fungi", and sponsor a number of culinary events. |
